Cosmic damage

The oil spill in Novorossiysk on August 7, 2021 was estimated by Rosprirodnadzor at 4.5 billion rubles

The "eco-radar" monitoring network of reservoirs will make it possible to determine the source of the catastrophe for prompt response and elimination of consequences.

The head of Rosprirodnadzor, Svetlana Radionova , in her Instagram account reported that the damage from the oil spill at the facility of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in Novorossiysk amounted to almost 4.5 billion rubles.
Recall that on August 7, 2021, during the injection of oil into the Greek oil tanker Minerva Symphon, there was a volley release near Novorossiysk. The oil trail was visible from space.
“The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources has calculated the damage from the consequences of an oil spill in the Black Sea in Novorossiysk. It amounted to 4,482,397,831 rubles,” said Radionova.
Initially, the fact of the incident, the investigators opened a criminal case in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 252 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation(Marine pollution). Then it was reclassified under Part 1 of Art. 252 of the Criminal Code (The same acts that caused significant harm to human health, aquatic biological resources, the environment, recreation areas or other legally protected interests).
CPC General Director Nikolai Gorban said that the main cause of the oil spill is considered to be a factory defect in the hydraulic compensator of a remote device for loading oil onto a tanker. Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said that the main reason for the oil spill was the lack of overhaul of facilities.
Oil spills cause great harm to the environment, marine life and ecology in general. In order to monitor and promptly respond to such incidents, environmental monitoring systems are being actively developed. One of the types of this equipment is "Eco-radar".
